Inspiring Action

A lot of people ask me – what makes your blog different from the other thousand motivational and inspirational blogs? My answer is that by reading my blog, I want you to stop reading my blog (ok come back and read it every now and then). That might seem counter intuitive but my goal is to encourage ACTION in your daily life. And by ACTION I mean stop reading all the motivational blogs and inspirational books, and stop listening to all the podcasts and cd’s and start doing something with your life and your ideas. Inspirational and motivational material should not tell you what to do or how to live, it should get you to think and engage in discussion with your family and friends.  I want you to read my blog, feel amazing and go out into the world and be a rock star. Get one person that you don’t know to tell you that your amazing.

For the past 10 years I have read a lot of motivational books and blogs and listened to many podcasts. There is some great material out there and some pretty bad stuff, but it’s all BS if you don’t actually incorporate these ideas into your daily life. If you don’t put your ideas and thoughts into ACTION you can read this stuff all day long and its meaningless.

I remember I used to be obsessed with these top 10 lists that a lot of blogs and motivational speakers would publish. (If I ever do this please slap me) Top 10 ways to become successful, Top 10 ways to get motivated, Top 10 ways to land a job, Top 10 ways to become stress free etc…. These are absolutely pointless. You can read them until you have memorized them but they don’t get you to turn off the T.V. and start living your dreams. They don’t help with being present and stop focusing on the future and dwelling on the past.  I also love these blogs that want you to quit your job and live the life you have always wanted – go and travel the world. I also think this is BS. Is this really reality? Why can’t you be fired up to go into work and put your thoughts and ideas into action there. Try It!!

ACTION STEPS

Write down the life that you want to live, not the life others want you to live (this can be both emotional and physical)

Start chipping away at your list – it’s OK and recommended to do things slowly, your life will not change overnight – but you will start to feel amazing right away.

In order to succeed at this you must stop worrying about the future and dwelling on the past.  Live for today.  Make a list of all your negative thoughts and fears. Go back and read them and see how often these thoughts and fears actually occurred.  You will be amazed that when you stop the worry, how you can live your life to the fullest.
